ATLANTA (April 4, 2016)
– AutoGuide, a premier provider of automated guided vehicles (AGVs), is introducing two major innovations at the MODEX 2016 show – a short frame tunneling AGV and natural feature guidance technology. Both innovations will be on exhibit from April 4-7, 2016 at MODEX booth 1227 in the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.
“These newest advancements continue our momentum in developing the most technologically advanced AGV products anywhere, while delivering the greatest value on the market,” said Scott McElmurray, vice president of AutoGuide. “Our new tunneling vehicle and natural feature guidance technology are making AutoGuide AGVs the best solution for more uses than ever before.”
Short Frame Tunneling AGV
At MODEX, AutoGuide is introducing the TVX, its new short frame tunneling AGV. The shorter frame length of the TVX will enable tighter turns than many other tunneling AGVs on the market. It will have a large battery capacity for extended duration of power, and increased motor size for higher load capacity at a higher speed. As with AutoGuide’s TV1000, the TVX will tunnel under and hitch to its loads to optimize assembly line processes and lean manufacturing. Currently in the final stages of development, the TVX will be available in coming months.
Natural Feature Guidance
AutoGuide is also offering natural feature guidance on its ITM5K industrial tugger. This technology uses laser scanners to determine the path of the vehicle. It allows for simpler installation and adjustments, while requiring less routing infrastructure than other technologies. With docking accuracy to within 5mm, automatic load transfer operations can be handled with ease. The ITM5K has a capacity of 5,000 kg and features operator override and a PC touch screen interface.
These innovations complement AutoGuide’s other AGV models, which all include open architecture, a remote wireless pendant controller, and remote path programming and fleet monitoring. Every AutoGuide AGV comes with its patented AVINU® traffic-control software, which gives real-time information into how the system is functioning.
